At the Bend of the Boyne

At the Bend of the Boyne

A robin revealed in its song
At its best, through the
Bushes of hazel by the
Walkway of Myth
I stopped and was stilled
Eye-to-eye with Redbreast
Undaunted in singing to
Chamber my rest in this
Bend of the Boyne with
Mysterious light

Remembered last time all
From Chokmah Group came
To this Valley of Mounds
On Tom’s Inspiration. From
Trinity Well, one source at
Carbury, the Boyne Waters
Flow, one source of many
Our Course through life’s
Journey of Workshops began
Mount Oliver to Dalgan
Creeslough and Larne

Galway-Mayo and Clare
And back to Dundalk, all
Different Celebrations and
Styles of Workshop
First sourced in Mount
Oliver: Bobby, Enda, Tom
Nano and Agnes and more
Staff in time with Visiting
Lecturers guiding along

Of Deaths we recall since
Before Covid began:
Enda’s in Maytime, 2019
Tom’s, March 2020 we
Couldn’t attend but we
Gathered twice since, ‘21
’22 in Ibricane Lodge and
Dundalk town. Bobby
Took part in March ‘22
Remembering Tom
Just six months later
His own death came

With Máirín Ní Mhurchú
Co-pilot all the way, we
Storeyed the Journey by
Camlough to pray
Carrickcruppen the Church
We found at 11.00 to join
In the chanting of Office
And Requiem. All the
Parishioners gathered in
Sorrow, students from
Schools in Guards of Honour

A lone piper led to the
Grave in church grounds
Just inside the gateway
Green Hills all around
Three Bishops’ heads in
Sunshine displayed
Colm Curry, homilist, gave
All their due praise
Recalling his own time:
Mount Oliver days
When were you there?

Or where did we meet?
Was that the summer of
Magdalene or Ruth?
Questions we posed having
Met Helen Lane, a Lady of
Mary, of Mission Worldwide
Fewer in number but hearts
Ever ready to carry the
Message once heard and
Remembered:
Notice the Stranger…
Include all who gather….
One for all……An Open Door….
Her early beginnings in Castlecore
