In Memory of Máirín Ní Mhurchú

Ongoing Dance
i.m of Máirín Ní Mhurchú:
Her love and care of creation and her joy and delight in music, song, story, ritual and sacred dance which she encouraged and facilitated during the annual Chokmah Workshops in Mt.Oliver and Dalgan Park. With thanks, also, to her good friend and our Dance Teacher, Catherine O’Sullivan, South Presentation Convent, Cork

In the sense of something greater
And the gifts of awe and wonder:
God our Father, Parent, Mother
You reveal yourself to me

In the Ritual of Eucharist
People gathered in communion
Word of Scripture broken open
Celebrant, symbolic action:
Christ alive to set us free

In the beauty of creation
Goodness graced with inspiration
Impelling to creative action:
Holy Spirit, Breath of Being

Loving Source, outflow of meaning
Healing Heart to help our wavering
Breath of Life our love inspiring:
Ongoing dance of Trinity.

‘Ó Áit go hÁit Ba Bhreá do Shiúl’, A Mháirín
       I ndíol-chuimhne Máirín Ní Mhurchú

Ceol agus cinneáltas in ngach comhluadar leat
Slánú an domhain, daonra is dúlra, do chúram
Go maire do spiorad in ár measc is tú ar Shlí na
Fírinne le gach atá slánaithe romhat
Siochán is suaimhneas na Síoraíochta agat

Rí na nDúl:
(a favourite poem of Máirín Ní Mhurchú read at her Funeral Mass)
Bí ciúin is féach gur mé do Dhia
Rian mo mhéir’ i réalta buí
Gile mo ghnúis’ ar bharr na sliabh
Cumhacht mo ghéag sna cnoic shíoraí

Sileann mo ghrá mar dhrúcht san óich’
Foghar mo thrua sa tsruthán chaoin
Scinneann mo ghlór sa chaor thintrí
Ceilim mo rún san aigéan íon

Draíocht mo ghlóir i lár na gcraobh
Cogar do bhéil im chluais de shíor
Cogar mo bhéilse thugat le gaoith
Éist! Is féach gur mé do Dhia
